FAMOUS CHART EXAMPLE - MOZART

Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, a prolific child prodigy, was a brilliant and eccentric musical
genius whose intense, colorful music evoked psychological complexity and joyful
inspiration. His extraordinary gifts of manual dexterity and swiftness,
along with his photographic memory, brought him early fame and notoriety.
In his lifetime, Mozart wrote 41 symphonies, 17 piano sonatas, about 20 operas,
church music and serenades. In total, he composed more than 600 works! (source: Lois Rodden)
What does his natal birth chart reveal to us? Can we
see astrological aspects depicting artistic intensity, musical genius,
uniqueness, imagination and focused ambition of his artistry? The answer
is absolutely yes! To begin with, look at Mozart's Aquarian planets in
his 5th house of creative self actualization. Aquarius is the sign of the
avant-garde humanitarian and the rebellious artist who defies convention to
express his inherent uniqueness. Aquarius rules brilliance, science,
technology, progress, freedom and individuality. His Aquarian Sun and
adventurous Sagittarius Moon suggest a natural ability to reach out and inspire
others with optimism and even zany humor. His Sun/Moon blend "lifts
the intelligence and socialization process to an even greater independence and
higher level. There is intellectual honesty and a broad, international
viewpoint. Romance is intense and idealistic..." (Noel
Tyl Synthesis and Counseling p. 99).
Mozart's idealistic Sun is linked powerfully to Saturn providing much structure
and ambition to actualize his Aquarian dreams. The inspirational and
imaginative planet
The planet Uranus ruling his quest for individuation is powerfully placed in an
angular position in his 7th house of the public. In addition, it conjoins
his south node (past life talents), opposes his ascendant (rebellion and sudden
breaks with the past), squares his Moon (defiant emotions, rebel, unique) and
squares his 4th house Pluto (upheaval, major changes). His nodal axis
(point of destiny) is also angular, with his north node conjunct his
ascendant. This suggests his life purpose includes developing and
nurturing his own ideals and identity despite the pull of others to push him in
other directions. His life developments will bring him lessons to break
with others and forge his own path.
The planet Mars is also powerfully placed at zero degrees of
a cardinal sign in the angular house of career and worldly ambitions, making 4
quintile/biquintile aspects which are found in birth
charts of individuals who are driven in a specialized field of activity.
They are prominent in charts of writers, inspired artists of all kinds and
scientists. In esoteric Astrology, the quintile is linked to the
initiates of the ancient mystery schools. Basic themes are freedom,
exploration, restlessness and experimentation. His angular Mars makes a
harmonious trine to his creative and inventive Aquarian Venus found in his 6th
house of work and service to others.
In addition to the Mars quintile aspects, Mozart also has
Uranus biquintile Jupiter (success, the big break),
Chiron biquintile Midheaven
(artistic profession, healing), Jupiter biquintile
south node (past talents emerge), Sun biquintile
north node (life purpose and identity must be forged and expressed creatively),
Moon quintile Venus, Venus quintile Pluto and Mercury biquintile
north node! He has midpoint picture of Chiron = Sun/Moon suggesting Chironian themes of pain and healing which are powerfully
evoked in his music (5th house). This midpoint picture also symbolizes
the emotional pain which accompanies the brilliant artist, who in his
incredible drive to create works of art, also
experiences sacrifice and suffering along the way. It is well publicized
that Mozart virtually had no childhood, as he
became well known at the tender age of 4. Other revealing midpoints are Midheaven = Venus/Uranus (success in artistic endeavors)
and Sun = Mars/Uranus (strong sense of self confidence,
sudden new circumstances, making something happen) (midpoint source:
Noel Tyl: Synthesis and Counseling in Astrology).
Another very powerful aspect in Mozart's birth chart is
Venus quindecile the North node. Professional
astrologer Noel Tyl rediscovered this revealing
aspect, and has found it to be an indicator of obsession, upheaval, trauma, or
one who is powerfully driven in the areas in the departments of life where the
aspect is found (including the astrological houses the aspect rules).
Author Ricki Reeves describes this aspect in her
wonderful book on the quindecile..."becoming
famous through one's artistic expression...." If all this were not
enough, we note Pluto, ruler of his 3rd house of communication, is in septile aspect to his 5th house Sun and Mercury. The septile corresponds to the number seven and has been linked
to sacred, holy matters. According to researcher John Addey,
the septile "discloses one's capacity to receive
inspiration...also may denote the ability to sense the mysterious whole behind
the parts of a subject..."
Wow! We could go on and on...suffice to say that Mozart was
truly a genius and his astrological birth chart provides us with amazing
insights into the life of a visionary artist.
