May Forecast

Hello to All,
I
was introduced to the tarot many years before I decided to become a
professional astrologer. The moment I laid my eyes on the beautiful Star
card in the A.E. Waite Tarot deck there was no looking back. The symbology
of tarot embodies timeless and universal archetypes within an artistic and
beautiful approach. Tarot cards can be used for spiritual development,
meditation or to simply understand options in our lives. I personally feel
that tarot and astrology are cosmically linked through their symbolic mode of
expression.
In a tarot deck there are 78 cards with 22 major arcana cards (greater secrets).
They symbolize the timeless, evolutionary journey of life from a state of pure
potential or nothingness all the way to self realization and holistic
integration. The 56 minor arcana (lesser secrets) depict the four elements
(fire, earth, air and water) and their manifestation in our everyday lives.
Similarly, an astrological birthchart also symbolizes the archetypal journey of
an individual's life....an energetic blueprint...the pure potential of cycles
yet to form in our lives.
The tarot and astrology mirror our current level of consciousness. They
provide a sacred means to transcend the ordinary. They enable us to delve
into the unconscious, archetypal realm. It is in this realm that we can weave a
story, divine higher truths and subsequently actualize a higher state of being.
Tarot and astrology mirror the stories of our lives. They guide us to
enter our own personal myths and become conscious co creators of our lives.
I will often integrate the tarot into my astrological work because it provides
yet another dimension of intuitive understanding. In fact, I will often
choose a tarot card to glean insight into major astrological patterns or cycles.
For example, the tarot card I randomly chose,
collectively, for May 2003 is the two of wands
appropriately called "Dominion". The number two represents duality and the
wands are symbolic of the fire element. This archetype is about making far
reaching plans, using intuition and seeing CHOICES that are available regarding
the future. This card is about the balance of power and our ability to
make choices. The picture on this card portrays a man holding a globe in
his outstretched hands. He is looking far out across the sea from his
secure position on land. I interpret this card as symbolizing the
far reaching effects of our collective choices on our planet. This card
reminds us to use our power wisely. The red roses on the card are
crossed by white lilies suggesting the polarity between materialistic desire and
purity of intention or the balance between our emotional and mental bodies.
Collectively, let us all make wise choices in the days ahead.
Astrologically speaking, May is quite an intense month for planetary activity!
The karmic planet Saturn is approaching its perihelion (the point in its orbit
where it is nearest the Sun). Transiting Uranus in Pisces continues its square
to the nodal axis prompting social changes along with social unrest and
rebellion. We begin the month on May 1 with a NEW MOON at 8:16 AM at
10 degrees of TAURUS. This lunation is in square aspect to the Jupiter and
Neptune opposition linking substance and matter to idealism or confusion.
Taurus energy deepens our connection with the material world and mother nature
herself. Physically or metaphorically, this is a time for planting seeds.
In the gardens of life, we should affirm what we wish to grow. In the
gardens of earth, we are ready to establish new beginnings of fertility and
beauty. Taurus energy finds sustenance and healing in communion with
nature. On May 2 the Venus sextile to Neptune
offers us flowing opportunities for soulful connections. This is followed
by Sun square Neptune on May 3 providing mystical visions or insincere and
diffuse goals. We are extremely sensitive to moods and currents at this
time.
The Sun conjoins a retrograde Mercury in Taurus on May 6 and 7 offering us
collaborative and communicative efforts to rethink global strategies. This
is followed by Mars oppose Jupiter on May 8. Mars is the archetypal rebel
and Jupiter is the eternal optimist. Link them together in challenging
aspect and we have either the courageous warrior or its shadow counterpart; the
fanatic destroyer who stakes everything on one hunch. Next on May 12 and
13 take note of Mercury in square aspect to a Mars/Neptune opposition
undoubtedly bringing us some unexpected developments or confusing distractions.
Mercury/Mars is assertive, forthright speech and Mercury/Neptune is either
inspired or deceiving communication.
This month's FULL MOON ECLIPSE on May 15 at 24 degrees of SCORPIO at 11:37 PM is
very powerful lunar energy! This will be an emotionally charged day for
sure. It occurs just 12 hours after the Moon's perigee (point closest to
the earth). Along with intense Scorpionic themes emerging at this time, we
also have transiting Neptune stationing retrograde in conjunction with Mars on
May 14 and 15 blurring our actions and potentially clouding our judgment.
In addition, the retrograde Mercury adds further delays to the planetary mix.
Alternatively, our collective intuition and creativity is heightened at this
time.
Venus next enters grounded Taurus on May 16 highlighting issues involving
finances, self worth, beauty and relationships. Taurus is the sign
symbolizing the fertility of planet earth and gardeners are feeling the urge to
get their hands in the soil and nurture their landscapes. From May 17 to
May 27 we will see a challenging aspect between Jupiter and a stationing direct
Mercury on May 20. Broad visions are ready to move forward at this time,
however, we must also use caution as Jupiter energy can expand things way out of
proportion!
The Sun enters versatile and breezy Gemini on May 21 precipitating improved
networking and global mental agility for the next one month period.
Transiting Sun squares rebellious Uranus on May 22 to 24 leading to sudden
breakthroughs or problematic independence. We may need to suddenly adapt
to new plans and strategies calling for inventive solutions. Transiting
Mars in favorable aspect to powerful Pluto on May 24 provides us an opportunity
to overcome limitations and use our higher will to accomplish our objectives.
On May 26 Mercury conjoins relational Venus linking beauty and harmony with our
collective mindset. However, the square to Neptune on May 27 may introduce
idealistic illusions to the planetary mix.
We end the month with an ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE at 9 degrees of GEMINI on May 31
at 12:21 AM. The path of this eclipse is reported to cut right through the
Middle East and the center of Europe. This eclipse is also in challenging
aspect to Uranus prompting more eccentricity or defiant energies. On a
positive note, expansive Jupiter and dreamy Neptune form a favorable aspect to
this eclipse offering us collaborative efforts to formulate new mental
perspectives. Last but not least, let us all continue to pray for peace in the
world. Lately, I often think of a song from one of my favorite CDs
by Sting on his Fields of Gold
CD called "Fragile"... oh how fragile we are.
Namaste,
Carol Bellis
