Children's Unique Blueprint
Hello to All,
How many
times have you heard parents exclaiming, "I cannot understand how my two
children came from the same family...one is so quiet, serious and
reserved. The other is extroverted, talkative and light
hearted!" To those of us who understand Astrology, this comment
comes as no surprise. It simply confirms that each one of our children are born with their own unique blueprint that begins to
manifest immediately after birth. We have a birthchart,
the soul's blue print, allowing us the beautiful gift of instantly attuning to
how we can best guide our child. For example, the planet Mercury
symbolizes the conscious mindset, thoughts and ideas. Mercury describes
the myriad aspects of schooling such as study habits, concentration and
communication style. The sign, house placement and natal aspects of
Mercury in the birthchart reveal great insight and
depth into these specific areas among others.
Let's take
a look at a few brief examples of how the winged messenger planet is
expressed through the different zodiacal signs from Aries to Pisces. Mercury in
Aries (cardinal fire) children think and speak impulsively and
quickly. They will be direct, assertive and tend to learn quickly in a
more active environment. These children will not readily sit still.
They will be full of curiosity and enjoy being challenged at all times!
It is wise to teach them that although it is wonderful to pioneer the new, it
is also important to complete one thing before moving on to the next.
These children are often way ahead of us. They appreciate a
parent/teacher who is dynamic...threaten them and they are quick to battle.
The key words for this Mercury placement are mental challenge, compete,
courage, assert, fast and energy.
Mercury in
Aquarius (fixed air) children will have an intellectual, inventive mindset
which is progressive, original and somewhat rebellious. They are
attracted to the unusual and futuristic. Try not to be shocked by their
progressive ideas! Their thinking is clear, clean and logical...not
emotionally based at all! Their rebellious ideas can quickly organize
protests due to their fixed and stubborn attitudes. They need a learning
environment where new technologies are explored and freedom is
encouraged. They would benefit from teachers who are open-minded and
unconventional. The key words are unique, independent, different, experimental and change.
Mercury in
Capricorn (cardinal earth) children possess mental ambition and well ordered
thought. They are very earth oriented and security conscious. They
love to learn things that are useful and practical. They actually need
very little discipline because they are innately full of self-discipline and
methodical perseverance. They learn best in an ordered, structured
environment. Do not expect them to devote any interest to any subject
that does not have practical value! The key words are ambition, responsibility,
mature, recognition and efficient.
Mercury in
Pisces (mutable water) children are greatly influenced by their
environment. Their moods are affected by what and whom they are exposed
to. Negative environments can actually cause these children to feel
depressed. They have heightened imaginations and emotional
perception. These sensitive children are the dreamers and visionaries of
the zodiac with highly developed psychic abilities. Their rich
imagination should be channeled into such things as poetry, art and
music. They may not be interested in detailed studies like math or
science, nor are they motivated by practicality or logic. They thrive in
learning environments which give them free reign for their sensitive
imaginations and deep feelings. They also need help sorting out what is
logical from their fantasies. The key words are intuition, visualization,
and sensitive, service, artistic, imagine and feel.
Please note
that this brief description has not even scratched the surface of a natal birthchart. An Astrologer would also study and
synthesize various components of the chart such as geometric aspects, house
placements, midpoints and key configurations to further elaborate on a child's
learning style. In essence, the rich, symbolic language of Astrology can
help us improve our interactions with our children. It is an empowering
tool to help us provide our children opportunities to channel their unique
gifts and talents into fulfillment and success.
Namaste,
Carol Bellis
